Should I continue to look for a part-time job or forget it?
I retired nine months ago after working full-time for 38 years in medical research. I've had sufficient rest now and wanted to look for something to do besides sitting at my computer all day. I went to my County's employment agency and they asked me what my job skills were. When I told them, they said that it really didn't fit into what most employers with job openings were looking for as they needed people with clerical or sales skills, not someone to run agarose gel electrophoresis or HPLC analysis. Added to the fact that I am getting a good pension and seeking a job at my age would be depriving someone else from a job that really needed one. I just felt I was being brushed off. What should I do - keep plugging for a position or forget it?
