Christians, is magic really evil?

I mean there are some people who seem to have a natural talent for sorcery and psychic ability. Even the prophets of old, especially Moses had a magical staff. Moses had powers akin to sorcery and used them for the forces of good, right. And Merlin helped unite a barbaric Britain under a single King. Merlin used his powers for good, also. Maybe Moses and Merlin were related, spiritually speaking.
